Back at home again. The trip to Greece went well, except that my son once again has bronchitis.

Grandma Socks

Pikainen raportti valmistuneesta sukkaparista. Neuloin nämä mummulleni, annan ne hänelle varmaan äitienpäivänä.

Very brief post to report an FO. I knitted this pair on socks for my grandma, she will probably get these on Mother's Day.

Mallineule on Magknitsissä julkaistusta Tropicana Socks -ohjeesta. Magknitsiä ei valitettavasti ole enää ole olemassa, joten en voi linkittää ohjeeseen. Suunnittelija toivottavasti julkaisee ohjeen jossain muualla.

The stictch pattern is from Tropicana Socks, published in Magknits. As Magknit is no longer online, I cannot link to the pattern. Maybe the designer will publish the pattern somewhere else at some point?

February Baby Sweater

Ystävälleni syntyi pieni tyttö jonkin aikaa sitten. Viikonloppuna otin itseäni niskasta kiinni ja tein nutun vauvelille.

My friend had a little baby girl some time ago. Last weekend I finally got around to knitting a little cardi for the baby.

Ohje on kaikkien tuntema Elizabeth Zimmermanin Baby Sweater on Two Needles, jota myös February Baby Sweateriksi kutsutaan. Loistava ohje, tätä tulee käytettyä uudestaankin.

Everbody probably recognizes the pattern, Baby Sweater on Two Needles aka February Baby Sweater. Excellent pattern, I will be knitting this again.

En ollut aivan varma minkä värisistä vauvanvaatteista vauvelin äiti pitää, joten päädyin valkoiseen. Väriä tuo kolme ruskeaa nappia. Tästä tuli mielestäni varsin suloinen!

I was not too sure about the colors (does the mother want the dress the baby in pink? earth tones? something else?) and chose the safe option: white. Three brown buttons bring some color to the cardigan. I think it turned out pretty cute!

Olipas kivan helppo ja nopea neule! Neuloin Teeteen Elegantia ensimmäistä kertaa ja kivalta vaikutti. Huivi on neulottu kaksinkertaisella langalla.

What an easy and quick knit! I had never knitted anything with this yarn (Teetee Elegant) before, it was lovely. I held the yarn double.

Little Teddy Bear and Jackrabbit

Ostin kirjan Kyuuto! Japanese Crafts! Amigurumi ja Niilo tykästy hahmoihin heti. Olen virkannut nyt muutaman herran valitseman tyypin ja koukussa ollaan. Ajattelin vähitellen tehdä kaikki kirjan mallit, niin hauskaa puuhaa näiden virkkaaminen on. Nämä on myös mainio keino tuhota jämälankoja.

I bought the book Kyuuto! Japanese Crafts! Amigurumi and Niilo loved the little creatures. I crocheted two of the animals he liked and we are hooked. I am planning to crochet each and every one in the book, these are so much fun and a nice way to use up leftover yarn.

Jänön peppu on aikamoisen suloinen.

Portland Travel Report

Kovasti on kiireitä riittänyt ja kesäaikaan siirtyminen sotki unirytmini täydellisesti. Nyt minua nukuttaa illalla, yöllä, aamulla ja päivällä. Nukun, nukun ja nukun.

I cannot believe how busy I have been the past weeks. We shifted to daylight savings time last Sunday and I have been horribly sleepy ever since. I go to bed very tired, sleep, wake up tired and try to survive the day at work. It seems that the only thing that I do is sleep nowadays.

Ihana kaupunki! Olen asunut Yhdysvaltojen kaakkoisosissa, mutta maan luoteiosat olivat ihan uusi kokemus. Kaupungissa on ilmainen (!!), toimiva (!!) joukkoliikenne ja paljon tekemistä. Portlandista tuli ehdottomasti yksi suosikkikaupungeistani Yhdysvalloissa.

What a lovely city! I have lived in the Southeast, but never got to visit the Northwest then. The city center has free (!!), working (!!) public transportation system and fun stuff to do. Portland instantly made it to my list of favorite cities in the US.

Powell's City of Books -kirjakauppa oli mieletön kokemus. Kaupassa on yli miljoona kirjaa, joten valikoimaa riittää. Olisin voinut viettää kaupassa päiväkausia, mutta valitettavasti aikaa ei sellaiseen ollut. Muutama käsityökirja lähti mukaan.

Powell's City of Books is a paradise. It stocks more than a million books so you can find almost anything there. I could have spent days in that store, but unmfortunately had only couple of hours to spare. I bought some crafts books, naturally.

Olen neulonut ja virkannut viime viikkoina, ja toivottavasti tämän viikonlopun jälkeen ehdin kuvata valmistuneita. Odottelen myös innolla uutta kameraani, joka on tilauksessa ja toivottavasti tulee huhtikuussa.

I have been knitting and crocheting and am hoping to get some pictures of the FOs after this weekend. I am also impatiently waiting for my new camera, it has been ordered and should arrive some time in April.
